Claria Clam Fossil with Calcite Crystals
This auction features a large and attractive gastropod fossil (prehistoric clam) named
Claria from the renown Pierre Shale formation of western Canada. It was living during the
same time as many dinosaurs, in the late Cretaceous, about 75 million years ago.
On the same hard shale matrix is a beautiful pocket of white calcite crystals, which
are much more sparkly in person than appears in the photo. This lovely fossil
would make a great addition to any fossil collection or cool gift.
