Black Peruvian Ammonite Fossil

Ammonites are extinct members of the cephalopod group of mollusks, which includes living creatures like the squid and the chambered nautilus. Like nautiloids, ammonites had a multi-chambered shell, and added more chambers as it grew, always living in the outer chamber. This auction features a beautiful black ammonite of the species Lyelliceras lyelli from Huaruco, Peru, of the Cretaceous Period (middle Albian), approx. 105 million years old. One side is better peserved than the other, but overall it is a very well preserved, attractive specimen (photos below show both sides; note ruler for scale). Low starting bid and no reserve. Buyer to pay 4.50 shipping in the United States (add 1.00 for insurance of Priority Mal). Thank you.
